E1 Team Miami, powered by MAGNUS, is excited to announce the appointment of Steve Curtis MBE as Team Principal for the 2026 UIM E1 World Championship season. Curtis, one of the most accomplished figures in international powerboat racing, brings unparalleled experience, competitive insight, and a legacy of championship success to E1 Team Miami. His appointment marks a significant step forward as the team prepares for another season of high-speed electric racing on the world stage. A nine-time UIM Class 1 World Champion, Curtis’ racing career spans decades at the pinnacle of offshore powerboat competition. He became the youngest ever Class 1 World Champion at just 21 years old, and over the years has amassed multiple world and European titles. With a legacy built on speed, innovation, and technical excellence, Curtis is widely recognized as one of the most successful throttlemen in the history of powerboat racing. Just last year, Curtis hit 242 mph with Darryl Cuttell in the Darana Hybrid Mystic at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout - setting a new 3/4-mile course record for that event. Steve Curtis, Team Principal of E1 Team Miami, powered by MAGNUS, said: "I’m thrilled to take on the role of Team Principal for Team Miami. E1 is pioneering the future of sustainable racing, and I’m excited to help lead this team into a new chapter of competition and innovation. We have great potential for the coming season and I’m looking forward to supporting a team capable of challenging at the front." Alex Malavenda, Co-Founder of E1 Team Miami, powered by MAGNUS, said: "Steve’s extraordinary career and proven leadership makes him the perfect choice for Team Miami. His speed and experience in both traditional and electric powerboat racing bring invaluable insight as we prepare to make waves in the 2026 E1 season." Curtis brings prior experience of E1 into his role with Team Miami, having served as Team Principal for E1 Team Brazil in Season 2 of the UIM E1 World Championship. Appointed mid-season, Curtis helped guide Team Brazil’s strategy and performance on the world stage, leveraging his deep technical expertise and understanding of high-pressure competition. Under his leadership, the team achieved notable results and built further momentum in the championship, taking a maiden win at the inaugural Lagos GP. In his new role with E1 Team Miami, Curtis will oversee all sporting, technical, and operational facets of the team’s 2026 campaign - working closely with pilots, engineers, and strategic partners to drive performan

ce and push the boundaries of E1 racing. The 2026 UIM E1 World Championship promises a thrilling third season of electric powerboat racing, combining cutting-edge technology with elite global competition in iconic coastal locations. First up in an action-packed eight race calendar is the E1 Jeddah GP in Saudi Arabia next week (23–24 January).
